Biography

Mark is a director/choreographer, playwright and actor who has created and staged many original dance and theater works and taught and performed internationally. He is an original cast member of the Broadway production of "The Lion King" where he was an active fundraiser for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and directed and choreographed several of TLK cast’s benefit appearances including Broadway Celebrates the Apollo. He has worked with noted directors and choreographers such as Julie Taymor, Bill T. Jones, Jerry Mitchell, Lutz Foerster (Pina Bausch) as well as performed the works of Alvin Ailey, Paul Taylor among others. Mr. Davis holds an M.F.A. in Theatre from Smith College and a B.A. in Dance and Performance from UMass/Amherst. Mark also holds a USFS Gold Medal in Ice Dancing. His most recent play, "The Last Blues of the Empress", was selected by the New Work Readers Series at the National Black Theater Festival.
