The Fringe goes DIGITAL!
For 25 years the San Francisco State University Fringe Festival has provided student playwrights with the next step in their play's development, moving the pieces from the page to the stage—or in this case right to your computer screen via Zoom. This student driven program has birthed many current playwrights such as Marcus Gardley, Christopher Chen, Rachel Bublitz, and Peter Sinn Nachtrieb. The diverse and multi-cultural voices of our student playwrights are the focus of this year's Fringe.
The online Fringe Festival will premiere this May with a live screening of The Three of Us by Lilly Rodriguez and PG&E and Me by Jon Strednak on Sunday, May 3rd followe by AmaZone by Art Diaz and Cold Feet by Julia Anderson on Monday, May 4th, and Marla by Ali Littman on Thursday, May 7th. All live screening will include a post-show discussion with the playwright and director. These and other offerings will be free to view on the Fringe Festival website after their live premiere.
In response to the COVID -19 pandemic the SFSU School of Theatre & Dance has cancelled our live productions and moved the Fringe Festival to a digital format. The School will also be releasing archive performances of its original work on Youtube.
