Cece Bechelli is excited to be on the faculty of San Francisco State University’s Department of Theatre and Dance teaching Dance in Cultural Context: Rhythm Tap. In 1978, while still an undergraduate at San Francisco State, Cece opened Happy Feet Dance School in Mill Valley, CA where she and her daughter are now co-directors and teach tap, jazz, and ballet to over 400 students annually. As part of the S.F. based Lorna Fordyce Dancers in the late 1970s and ‘80s and the Step Sisters Tap Trio in the early 2000s, Cece has performed and taught extensively throughout the S.F. Bay Area. She and her two partners were honored to open for tap legend Gregory Hines at the Marin Center Veterans’ Auditorium in 2000 and again in 2003. Cece holds an M.A. in Humanities from SF State where she researched and wrote extensively on the cultural history of tap dance.
