About Us

The School of Theatre & Dance offers a comprehensive program of both practical and theoretical courses for undergraduate and graduate students whose professional interests center on a career in professional or educational theatre or dance.

As a center for the training of future theatre and dance artists, the School is committed to introducing a diversity of theatre and dance traditions and cultures to students. To this end, the School employs its two dedicated theatre spaces, two dedicated dance spaces, and other flexible spaces as learning laboratories in which students collaborate with each other, faculty, and guest professionals. Studio workshops and advanced stage productions in those performance spaces are the culmination of the educational experience.

Quick Facts

The Theatre Arts program of the School of Theatre & Dance is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST).

The curriculum provides the student with a foundation for advanced study in theatre or dance studies, teaching, or a career in professional theatre or dance. To this end, the School of Theatre & Dance employs its rehearsal and performance spaces as learning laboratories in which students collaborate with faculty and guest professionals. Often studio workshops and advanced stage productions in those theaters are the culmination of the educational experience.

Alumni

Graduates of the theatre program are prominent throughout the nation, with positions of leadership in theatre, television, film, and theatre education. Graduates of the dance program move into a variety of dance-related areas including performance, choreography, musical theatre work, and teaching in public schools, private studios, and community centers.
