Jean Omen

M.A. Student

Jean Omen, originally from Kansas City, Kansas, has been immersed in the arts from a young age, engaging in concert choir and theater arts throughout middle and high school. In 2020, they earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Missouri – St. Louis (UMSL), where they also performed in the UMSL dance recital Last Farewell. Jean’s commitment to community service deepened through their work with Midwest and West Coast nonprofits, focusing on HIV/STI screening, mental health support, and other essential social services. This drive led them to establish their own LLC, Renaissance Entertainment, which provides a safe space for Black and queer audiences to connect with the arts.

Jean’s creative career includes music supervision for productions such as The Madame of Leimert and Scarlets and DJing at events like Kansas City and San Francisco Pride. They also trained in dance styles like ballet, contemporary modern, and Vogue in Los Angeles. As an M.A. student in the School of Theatre & Dance at San Francisco State University, Jean’s mission is to provide free educational and arts training to underserved communities across the U.S.
