Developing a Character for Devised, Original and Scripted Plays, with Jo Tomalin PhD (enrollment closed)

Do you want to discover how to develop a character for a scene or a play? How to develop a back story, make choices about how the character moves, gestures, and thinks? Then come to this short acting course - each of the five sessions builds on the other, so you will have confidence and creativity to be a resourceful performer!

Take a deep dive into stage management skills such as taping out a ground plan (various shapes and styles), blocking methods, and different types of calling exercises.

Corset Making, with Conchita Fayos (enrollment closed)
Dates: Saturdays, Feb 26, March 5 & 17 from 10:00 am-3:00 pm
Making a corset is more simple than it sounds. In this class, each student will construct a corset by working with fabrics, cutting, sewing by machine and by hand, ironing, etc. Some sewing experience is recommended but all sewing levels are welcome.
Welding, with Erin Gibb (enrollment closed)
Dates: Saturdays, March 5, 12 & 19 from 10:00 am-3:00 pm
Dive into exploring welding and metal work. In this course you will learn the basics, different types, and safety behind welding, and get some hands-on beginner experience.
Modern Dance Repertory, with Wendy Diamond (enrollment closed)
Dates: Dates for Modern Rep will be irregular. March 23, 24, 25 & 28 5:00-8:00 pm; March 26 11:00 am-2:00 pm, plus dress rehearsal and performance dates and times, TBA. Final performance is 4/3.
Modern dance choreography for Dance Department students who have not been able to perform due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This piece will be performed live as part of the UDT concert April 1-3. Rehearsals will take place during the 9 days preceding the concert.
